A New Message From Pastor Chris
Greetings to my dear brothers and sisters in the Lord,
As Jesus stepped from the boat onto the shore, and seeing the multitude that had gathered, was moved with compassion for them, because they were like sheep not having a shepherd. So He began to teach them many things.
I am so grateful that soon after coming to Christ, my wife, Jenelle, and I found ourselves in the Calvary Chapel family of believers, lead by pastors who faithfully taught the whole counsel of God’s word. In my 32 years of pastoral ministry, I have sought to follow their example.
“Love God, love My word, love My people, and I will build My church” is the word the Lord had spoken to my heart. While I have imperfectly kept His word, the Lord has been so faithful building His church: strengthening His people, expanding vision, raising up servants, comforting us with His love… we have learned to press on; pressing on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of us as a church and and followers of Christ.
“Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!” Romans 11:33
I didn’t see it coming. His ways are past finding out. It wasn’t a part of my retirement plan (I still don’t have one of those!). It’s scary to step out of the boat. But I find it impossible to resist when the Lord says, “I dare you!” as He did 32 years ago.
Transitioning from senior pastor of a church to using my pastoral skills in other venues, other churches, with doors open in country and out of country, at my age an “I dare you” moment.
But I would not have considered stepping out without the Lord’s provision of another to take my place. Pastor Henry Lundy comes with unique skills and giftings of his own, matched with those of Pastor Vince and with your own, for you have not been idle but growing in Christ, “becoming more and more in every way like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. Under his direction, the whole body is fitted together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.” Ephesians 4:15-16
There are greater things yet for you to do, for this church to do- “if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard…” Colossians 1:23
Pressing on until the trumpet sounds!
Your brother in Christ,
